Inspiration comes in many forms.
For Tiki’s Playhouse founder Kelvin Abrams, it was the passing of his beloved Weimaraner puppy, Tiki.
Tiki was just 11 months old when Kelvin arrived home from work one day to find him paralyzed. Tiki had suffered spinal-cord bleeding from a previously undiagnosed ailment. At this heart-wrenching moment, Kelvin knew his future would be very different.
Kelvin decided to leave his successful government career and found Tiki’s Playhouse, a unique pet sitting business that would change doggie day care forever.

Tiki had spent much of his short life in a crate while Kelvin worked long hours at the office. Kelvin wanted a better life for other dogs while their owners were away from home, and dedicated himself to starting Tiki’s Playhouse with that same mission.
Since 2008, Kelvin’s vision for a unique doggie daycare has been a reality. Boasting an expansive dog playground, our doggie daycare dogs are able to roam free and playfully engage with their furry friends. Tiki’s Playhouse is a great option for busy pet owners — whether you own a small, medium, or large dog. Poodles, labs, and all breeds in between are welcome!

Tiki’s Playhouse is the pet hotel of choice for dog lovers in Howard County, Carroll County, and Montgomery County, Maryland. In addition to the popular off leash dog park at our doggie daycare, our pet services include pet feedings, cageless dog boarding, and 24/7 pet care.
We also operate K9 & Coffee, which is the perfect place for you and your friends to relax with a cup of coffee with or without a dog. The doggie playground is open Saturday ONLY from 8am to 12pm. K9 & Coffee is open 6 days per week for coffee, tea, smoothies and much more. You do not need a dog to come visit K9 & Coffee.
